On-board Coaching

Getting off to a good start is important for every employee. But for some new hires, especially those in high profile positions, on-board coaching is essential.  In order to be successful and hit the ground running early on, these new hires must figure out the players, navigate the lay of the land, AND perform their job duties.

Sure, they could do it on their own - in time - but when quick ramp up is needed and success is essential, on-board coaching is critical to success.

What is On-board Coaching?

With on-board coaching, new employees have a confidential way to examine the big picture with an outsider's perspective. Initially, the coach, the new employee, and the manager will discuss and define the objectives and goals of the on-board coaching period.  After that meeting, the coaching sessions involve just the coach and employee. During this period, behavioral assessments may be included to enhance self-awareness and improve communication with others. Typically, the new hire will meet with the coach on a regular basis for a defined period of time.

What are the benefits of On-board Coaching?

When you offer on-board coaching to your high-profile employees, key benefits include:

  • Added-value to your own on-boarding process
  • Shortens the ramp-up time and gets new hires acclimated faster and better
  • Sends the message that you value your new employees
  • Helps to identify at-risk new hires and reduces the cost associated with turn-over
  • Gives your organization a competitive advantage when attracting talent
